Children + Design
Loving the concept here. MoMA has a new exhibit opening on July 29th titled, "Century of the Child: Growing by Design, 1900-2000." According to Juliet Kichin, curator in MoMA's
architecture and design department, "We're showing the two-way, very dynamic relationship between new
concepts of childhood and children and new ways of thinking about design
process and creativity." In short, creating for children (or using children as inspiration) allowed avant-garde designers greater freedom to express their creativity. The exhibit includes more than 500 items from 20 countries, such as early Montessori educational materials, toys such as Lego blocks and Etch-a-Sketch, and children's books from the late 1920's. Check out more information on the exhibit here.
