Wait, you stayed WHERE?
All right,
we’ll admit it: we’ve been a little travel-crazed this spring. But researching destinations and
planning trips is half the fun, right?!?
We think so, but we also know PLENTY of people out there who absolutely
hate any such task. So, we
absolutely had to share this Practical Traveler article from the good old NYT.
House in Cornwall, at left, from £175 a night at UniqueHomeStays.com.
Hotel in St.-Tropez, France; from 450 euros a night at DesignHotels.com.
Unlike standard searches
through Orbitz.com or Kayak.com, these sites are much more specific to
individual tastes. Additionally,
the results are completely unique--no hotel or motel chains here! An added benefit for those of you who looking to simplify vacation plans: instead of scrolling through thousands of options,
you’ll have a smaller selection more specific to your tastes.
As purveyors (and purchasers)
of unique, modern home décor, we consider ourselves visual people. So we really enjoyed perusing the
photo-heavy site that inspired the article: www.designtripper.com/. But, the news article did mention
that it is best for just that: having a look around. If you are looking to book quickly, it may not be the best
site for you. We also loved the
look of www.DesignHotels.com, which specializes
in contemporary hotels with 5-star quality. There are sites for the quirky and adventurous, the
budget-conscious, and those looking for the authenticity of a local home. Check out the list, and tell us what you think! We've included some sample pictures from the article below, or what we consider adventure eye-candy.
Palazzo in Tuscany, Italy; from $4,450 a week at DesignTripper.com.

Bungalow in Santa Catarina, Brazil; doubles from $623 a night at MrandMrsSmith.com
Hotel in St.-Tropez, France; from 450 euros a night at DesignHotels.com.
